The second Hall of Ghosts album is currently being mixed. It's set to take the form of a long mini album or two EPs. Songs include Long Distance, I Am Calm As The Sea, So Long Steady Hands, The Other Side and Halfway From Here

The album will be released digitally (FLAC, Apple Lossless, mp3) as well as limited edition CD with bonus tracks. There is also the possibility of a limited edition vinyl LP pressing, subject to demand.

Hall of Ghosts is the musical vehicle for Shropshire songwriter/producer Jim Williams - sometimes a solo project, occasionally a collaboration with other musicians. Shades of melodic, angular guitar rock combine with folky Americana pop and occasional hints of old school electronica.

Prior to Hall of Ghosts, Jim fronted the band Additional Moog which itself started as a studio project in the mid to late 90s. Many early Additional Moog sketches, recorded on a Tascam 4 track, were released in the early days of www.mp3.com to some acclaim. Several songs were collected on a now-deleted compilation album Lost Engines - released by U.S. label Lost Cat Records.

Jim then expanded Additional Moog into a band featuring Ian Powell (drums), Alex Reynolds (bass) and Dion Judge (guitar) for live shows around the country. Their first was opening for K.T. Tunstall at Birmingham's Academy 3. The band released a 7" single Holy Jukebox before Mark Rose (guitar/bass) replaced Judge in time for the recording of their debut album Thirty Three & A Third .  The album also featured vocal contributions from Texas singer-songwriter David Lutes. It was well received upon its release and won fans in Americana circles, including Wilco bass player John Stirratt.  The band continued to gig, including a headline slot at the Rhythms of the World Festival in Hertfordshire, before recording their second full length album Endless Air . Williams and Rose took over bass duties on the album, following the mysterious disappearance of former bassist Reynolds. Silver Diver was chosen as a single and received national airplay including a playlisting on N.M.E. Radio.  The epic Radio Silence was featured on Tom Robinson's radio show on BBC 6 Music. Clash Magazine labelled the band "masters of lo-fi Americana and Alt. Country" while Maverick Magazine, tipping the band for greatness, praised the album's "hauntingly beautiful and hypnotic" songs.

The first album A Random Quiet was released in 2012 featuring collaborations from pedal steel guitar player Gerry Hogan and drummer Ben Davies. R2 magazine praised the album's "haunting...dream like quality" while No Depression called it "extraordinary...finely rendered Americana pop"

Jim began writing and recording demos for a follow up album shortly afterwards but progress was delayed due to other productions he was working on. In 2015, recording resumed with the arrival of Sam Roberts on drums. Sam's drums were recorded in an airy, spacious hall near Canterbury before Jim took the recordings back to Shropshire for more overdubs and mixing. The album, tentatively titled Long Distance is now being mixed.

Long Distance

Follow where we ran
There's no way home

Moonlight guides the way

Not a word from you

Hide yourself in view
I've been there too
Everything denied
Can't fight it
Can't fight the truth

Long, long distance
Is all I'll take from this
Long, long distance
A love you'll never miss
And I have to walk away
I have to walk away

You found me at sea
What did that time mean?
Save your secret code
For those who care to be alone

Hesitate again
What do you really fell?
I waited on the outside
Can't think straight
Can't think straight
I can't even think straight

Long, long distance
Is all I'll take from this
Long, long distance
A love you'll never miss
And I have to walk away
I have to walk away

I Am Calm As The Sea

I am calm as the sea

Nothing matters to me

I am high as the sky

Fill my mind

There's nothing I dislike

I don't need it

I don't want it

If I can't have you

I won't feel it

I won't share it

If I can't have you

If I can't have you in my life

I am calm as the sea

Nothing

Matters to me

Except seeing you

And wanting you

And needing you

And holding you

And sharing you

And being with you

And talking with you

And laughing with you

And loving you

Halfway From Here

Halfway from here
I stopped seeing who I was
Halfway from here
I stopped being who I was
It started with you
Halfway from here
A sea of uncertainty
Halfway from here
Submerged me in different dreams
They're only of you
Unfold
Start today
In your heart
Here to stay
Feel natural now
It's natural now

The Other Side

Hold my hand
One last time
Feel your lover
By your side
The summer's gone
But that's all right
I don't want to hear you cry
I'll see you on the other side

Thank you
For the times we laughed
Heaven knows
It all seems past
I'll take you in my heart
I won't forget your eyes
Give me a smile
And I'll see you on the other side

On the other side
On the other side
Bright blue morning
And my heart thrown open wide
You can take my body
But I'm keeping my soul
Scatter me out
Where the four winds blow
You'll never take me alive
I'll see you on the other side

The Learning Curve

Wait up
Watch the flight to land
Moments are mountains
In your hand
And it's bigger than all of us

Don't dream
Believing this is real
User friendly terms
Without the feel
As I forget to laugh
In the August sun

In a chair
In his head
Between the truth
And the lie
When he lies
He never has to explain

Saving all your old cassettes
The time it took to make them
Doesn't help to forget
But there'll come a day
When they'll sound
Much better than this

In a chair
In his head
Between the truth
And the lie
When he lies
He never has to explain
I know love has a learning curve
Dream, dream on...

So Long, Steady Hands

Silver shining sea
Silver shining sea
How it becomes me
It becomes me now

Forever wait and feel
Forever summer breeze
All hope but bound to none
We are forever young

Oh, so long steady hands
So long
Forgetting who I am

Memory is here
Memory is fear
Come to take me
Here in my empty arms

Help me to escape
Lost in my own dreamscape
Slowly dissolving
I evaporate

So long, steady hands
So long
Forgotten who I am

So long, steady hands
So long
Forgotten who I am

Out of the Blue

I'm sorry we met

I'm not being unfair

This day wouldn't matter

If I didn't care

But now the arc of what we had

Is finally undone

And I know

Happiness is lost

For me and you

From out of the blue

I open my window

To drown in the air

I feel your reflection

Although you're not there

And now the arc of what we had

Is finally undone

And I know

Happiness has come

And passed again

From out of the blue

Out of the blue

That's how I found you

Thought it would last

This time

Out of the blue

That's how you faded it

A friendship out of view

And out of blue

Giant Water

Step into the giant water

I'm listening

Though I am shouting at the top of my lungs

Feel the water surround you

Time is forgotten

I'm holding your hand

Forever

The tide won't take us down

Though I'm fearful of the hated clouds Coming round

Nothing will break us again

I swim slow motion

No ending

The years we knew like ripples

They fall through your hands

Come with me

No rescue

A lifetime treading water

It comes speeding past

Forever

The tide won't take us down

Though I'm fearful of the hated clouds Coming round

Nothing will break us again

This isn't happening

I won't believe in it this day

Shivers shaded me from hue

Red to blue

The days turn shorter in the giant water

Step into the giant water

I'm listening

Bye Bye, Big Blue

Where were you on the frontier?

I laid low and out of sight

where were you when the tide came in ?

couldn't catch me in this fading light

Forgotten essays on the forest floor

say no more

but please take this opportunity

there's no one at my door

I come disassembled

We all disassemble in the dark

This must be big blue

no-one prepares you

nothing sails through

bye bye, big blue

this hurt is through

I spot the outsider easily

She's wading in her emptiness

words come slow

a room in white

finally a dream takes flight

I come disassembled

We all disassemble in the dark

Hello big blue

no-one prepared you

nothing sails through

Bye bye big blue

this mystery is through

We Are Finally Happy For Standing Still

In a glass house
There is room to run out
There is space to believe

Early morning dust
To the daylight thrust
This is something I need

And now I'm ready
I think I'm ready

Sing out now
It's getting simpler now
I disappear in a horseless town

How old are we?
Inside a photograph
We live again where the pages part

And now I'm ready
I think I'm ready

We are finally happy for standing still
I can feel myself loving you
We are finally living
For going nowhere
And this is us I'm talking about

On the far frontier
Where the message is clear
We'll hibernate 'til the summer breaks

Give me endless air
Hold me into the chair
I'm given all unto gravity

And now I'm ready
I think I'm ready

We are finally happy for standing still
I can feel myself loving you
We are finally living
For going nowhere
And this is us I'm talking about

I was lonely out on the rail
Slowly coming undone
But you helped me change
Yeah, you changed me

Volunteers

I am a volunteer in this life
Giving myself without return
There's nothing answered in me

I am a translator of your heart
Open sky and empty road
This is what we planted

I'll not come up for air
A grey-blue abyss
Like an empty kiss

We are all just volunteers
Fighting a lost cause
As a lifetime rolls out to the past
I know this will last
I know we will last

I am a visitor to your dreams
Even though we'll never meet
You'll feel me living on through you

I am an evergreen on this hill
Weather was never my enemy
Not when I had you near to me

I'll not come up for air
A grey-blue abyss
Like an empty kiss

We are all just volunteers
Fighting a lost cause
As a lifetime rolls out to the past
I know this will last
I know we will last

I'll hear you singing
In an unlocked room
Your smile is with me always
I'll hold on tight so you won't let go
Don't leave me on my own
Don't leave me on my own

We are all just volunteers
Here we are

Tonight, It's Over

When I sleep
You are all I need
'Til the morning

Will you stay?
I know you won't
Though everything is on the table

It's all thrown against me now and then
Taken hold as the winter threatens in on
This could be so easy
But tonight, it's over

As I work
On a quiet, open road
There's a song playing in my head
It must be right
I can't believe it's wrong
For us to share each other's failures

It's all thrown against me now and then
Taken hold as the winter threatens in on

This could be so easy
But tonight, it's over

Hall of Ghosts

Welcome to my hall of ghosts
People I have been
Reflections of another life
And I'm beginning again

I wasn't blinded when we met
Seven years marked by regret
But in time I came to understand
The road you take is planned ahead

I have been this way before
Love leaves us for so long
Look into your past you'll know
You're born to let go

I don't want to be the one
To let you down
But given all unto a hall of ghosts
In time we'll come around

We have been this way before
Love leaves us for so long
Look into your past you'll know
We're born to let go

The Wandering

In the quiet hours
I whisper my way along the back roads
I know the back roads

The late night rumble
Of long distance trucks
Is something I trust
I know what I trust

Begin again
Will I see you when I close my eyes?

This is the wandering..

Rain on a window
I sketch your name into the half light
I'm in the half light

The start of a new love

We follow through fog
I know you're out here
I know you're out here

Begin again
Will I see you when I close my eyes?

This is the wandering..

5 a.m.
An open field in moonlight
I must be near by now
I must be near by now

A Random Quiet

A random quiet came over me
In a sea of hazy lights
And I knew
I was winding for tomorrow

The thought of us all
Everything we'd done
Over the years
And the distance
Was reflected in my tears

So, where will I stand
When you're no more
At the reach of my hand

A kiss is all
And everything we had
I want to thank you
For everything I am

So, where will we go
When time turns ashes to coal
A kiss is all
And everything we own
I want to thank you
For giving me a home

So, where do we go
When the world has forgotten our souls
A kiss is all
And everything we had
I want to thank you
For everything I am
